Hi! I’m Elyse! When I was growing up, I had a hard time finding my identity as a Black female. I was raised in a predominantly Caucasian environment which played a part in this. As a young girl, I didn’t understand the value of being a Black female because the majority of my friends weren’t Black and didn’t accept me or appreciate my heritage. I would try to change how I looked, dressed and acted just to be accepted or liked by my friends; I would try to conform to what my nonBlack friends were and it was not fun. It wasn’t until I got to college that I started to understand the beauty in being a Black female and being myself. I made friends in college that loved and understood who they were and because I was around them, I started to embrace and love who I am.
So who am I? I am Elyse, a college graduate, a scientist, a writer, an aspiring public health doctor and so much more. This is Elyse is me just sharing my life and the lessons I have learned from it. It is me sharing the raw unedited version of me.
Here I will talk about becoming the best version of yourself, how to know and understand your value and worth and how to love yourself. I will also share devotionals that come directly from my life, natural hair hacks, lifestyle tips, things that helped me through life, events that are happening in the world around us and much more.
This is Elyse, is me, sharing the real and unique me with the world. It is me trying to help someone else through my experiences and the lessons that I have learned. I hope that you join me as I share my story. Always remember to be real, be unique, and to be you.
