Hi! I’m Elyse! I am an African American female from Michigan and college graduate. Growing up as an African American female in a predominant Caucasian environment it was hard for me to accept me or my heritage. As a young girl, I hated being Black because my friends weren’t and didn’t accept me. I would try to change how I looked, dressed and acted just to be accepted or liked by my friends. It wasn’t until I got to my Historically Black College or University (HBCU) college and met friends that loved who they were that I truly started to embraced who I am.
So who am I? I am Elyse, a college graduate, scientist, writer and African American female. I am beautiful, smart and amazing and have qualities that the word needs. I love to cook, read, write and so many other things that you will get to learn about me as you read this blog. This is Elyse is me just sharing my life and the lessons I have learned. It is me sharing the raw unedited version of me. This is Elyse is me, sharing the real and unique me with the world. I hope that you join me as I share my story. Always remember to be real, be unique, and to be you.
